Most worries are not half as serious as we first think they are.

Many a night’s sleep has been lost over worries that become inconsequential when exposed to the bright light of a new day. Things always seem bleakest in the dark of night or when we are all alone. At such times, the mind has a way of exaggerating the circumstances until we convince ourselves that things are far worse than they actually are. Don’t waste energy in needless worry that could be directed toward solving the problem.

If you have trouble sleeping because your worries keep you awake, try keeping a notepad beside your bed. Instead of worrying about something you must do, or fretting about a problem you are unsure how to solve, make a list of things you should do tomorrow to address the situation.

You will find that it’s much easier to leave your worries on the pad than turning them over and over in your mind throughout the night.
